After 54 years, CBS announced today that they are canceling As The World Turns. This was always my very favorite show. My mom used to take in ironing to support our family; and, each afternoon she would stop to eat her lunch while watching it. My very first and most vivid memories revolve around ATWT and its richly told storylines and fascinating characters. Does anyone remember Grandpa Hughes and the on air birthday parties thrown for him? One year my mom's birthday card was shown...

I want to share with you a great idea for the holidays! One of our local soup kitchens has asked the community to fill backpacks for the homeless men, women and children who populate our area, and I think this is a terrific idea to give back. They are suggesting these items to fill the backpacks: warm hats, gloves, scarves, socks, sweaters, toiletries, snacks, toys for kids. Maybe a book, crossword puzzles, pens, flashlights ------ the possiblilities are endless!! Your blessed kindness...

You whip out your cell phone to show and compare pictures of your furry babies to all around!! This is what Sherry Ramsey and I did during Beth's lunch last Friday! We shared stories of our precious ones and giggled about the ways in which we spoil them. Sherry is such a down-to-earth, warm and caring lady!! No wonder Grant loves her madly!
